    VINTAGE TOYO POTTERY MID CENTURY JAPENESE DONABE HOT POT STICKER INTACT

    This pot is part of an estate of someone I knew.  I don’t think it has been used, but not sure. Brand sticker is still attached to the lid.
    Hand painted very heavy donabe pot. A special Japanese clay pot for cooking hot pot dishes.
    Donabe is the Japanese version of an earthenware cooking pot dish. It is thick and porous, allowing it to retain heat for much longer time than a standard cooking pot.
    USEAGE AND CARE
    While donabe can live for a very long time, this is only true if taken care of.  It’s important to heat gradually and to never heat an empty donabe - neglecting this could crack the donabe.
    Before using the donabe, be sure to boil water in it and let water cool, then dry it out.
